A step-by-step guide for keeping your Scentsy Warmers clean

Switching over from Fall Warmers to your Holiday Warmers? Now is the perfect time to clean them before storing so they are ready to go for next year.

Scentsy Warmers offer a safe & efficient way to fill your home with fragrance so to ensure their longevity & optimal performance, regular cleaning is important. In this guide, I'll cover when the best time to clean your Warmer is + step-by-step cleaning instructions.

When to clean your Scentsy Warmer

There a few times when you'd want to take some extra care of your Warmers:

  1. You have a spill: Be sure to follow the guide below to clean your Warmer ASAP after a spill.

  2. You notice your warmer is dirty: Over time, Warmers can become dusty so be sure to add them in to your normal cleaning routine to keep them looking & performing at their best.

  3. You're changing them seasonally: For example, when you're switching out your decor from one season to the next (ex: Halloween to Christmas), be sure to clean your Warmers thoroughly before storing them so they are ready to go for next year.

How to clean your Scentsy Warmer

Let's walk through how to effectively clean your Scentsy Warmer, keeping it in excellent condition.

Step 1: Gather the necessary supplies

Before diving into the cleaning process, let's gather some necessary supplies to make the task more convenient. You'll need:

  • Warm, soapy water

  • Soft cloth, sponge, or soft bristle toothbrush

  • Q-tips or cotton swabs

  • Paper towel or cotton balls

  • Rubbing alcohol

  • Toothpicks or any small tools (optional)

🚨 You'll also want to evaluate the material your Warmer is made with. Some Warmers with frosted glass or unglazed ceramic may prove tougher to clean. Test in a small area before diving in.

Step 2: Remove Scentsy Wax from the Warmer

If you have recently used your wax warmer, remove the liquid wax from your dish with a Cotton Clean Up, paper towel, or cotton ball. If wax has solidified, gently pop it out using a butter knife or similar tool. Be careful not to damage the surface of the dish. If some stubborn residue remains, placing the dish in the freezer for a few minutes may help loosen it, making it easier to remove.

Step 3: Turn off & unplug your Warmer

Ensure Warmer is turned off & unplugged from the power source. This will eliminate any possibility of electrical shock while cleaning.

Step 4: Clean the exterior

While the Warmer is still warm, remove excess wax with a Q-tip & wipe down the exterior using a cloth dampened with warm, soapy water. Be cautious around any electrical components and connections. Dry the surface thoroughly to prevent any moisture from causing damage. For Warmers with a cement/grout-type finish, use a soft bristle toothbrush to remove any spilled wax.

Step 5: Clean the dish

If the dish Warmer is removable, detach & rinse with warm, soapy water, ensuring all wax residue is removed. Use a soft cloth or sponge to wipe away any grime or buildup. For tougher stains, you can use a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a cloth or paper towel. Make sure to dry the dish thoroughly before reattaching it to the wax warmer.

If your Warmer has a built-in dish, do not use the warm, soapy water as it may get into the electrical components. Simply skip to use the alcohol or if you have Black Raspberry Vanilla wax, can also try using it to remove any stubborn stains. It has oils that loosen & remove the gunk.

Step 6: Clean the heating element

For Element Warmers with a heating plate, it is important to keep this component clean & free from residue. Use a cotton ball to remove any melted wax from the plate then turn off & let dry. Use a toothpick or similar tool to reach crevices or corners.

Step 7: Extra tips for maintenance
  • Regularly change the wax to prevent excess residue buildup.

  • Avoid overfilling the dish, as it can lead to wax spillover.

  • Wipe down Warmer during normally cleaning activities.

  • Use caution when handling sharp tools so as not to scratch the Warmer's surface.

  • Always refer to the manufacturer's instructions for specific cleaning recommendations.

Cleaning your Scentsy Warmer is a simple, yet essential task that allows you to enjoy its benefits for longer. By following the step-by-step guide above, you can keep your Warmer in excellent condition, ensuring a great experience every time.

Remember to prioritize safety & refer to the insert provided in your Scentsy Warmer box for any further specific instructions. Happy cleaning!
