Scentsy has installed a new automation system that has improved efficiency & increased storage capacity in our Meridian distribution center.
A huge grid system, thousands of bins & 100 robots comprise the automated storage & retrieval system (ASRS) designed by industry leader, AutoStore. Watch the ASRS in action.
Box-shaped robots roll on a giant grid of tracks (125 feet long, 88 feet wide, 17 feet tall) filled with bins of Scentsy products. The robots retrieve bins based on orders & lower them down to Scentsy employees located at stations beneath the grid. Employees pull products from the bins & add them to a shipping cart.
A computer determines the most efficient batches of orders, feeding pickers six times as many products. Previously, employees had to walk up & down long corridors of shelves to pull products for individual orders.
The ASRS is modular & can grow with our ever-expanding inventory needs & meet shipping expectations for customers. Plus, the system runs overnight, rearranging bins into the optimal position for the next day’s orders.
The new system complements, but does not replace, our existing workforce. In fact, some team members have become robot technicians!
